I am writing Ray Grelecki's story. He was in OSS and then the CIA. I am a friend of the family and would love to hear from anyone else who has family who knew him. He trained paratroopers. He knew Ho Chi Min. Just like all these amazing men he has some amazing stories. Anyone heard of him?

My father, Robert Livingston Pomeroy was in the OSS (SI), first in the European theater, Italy, and then to Kunming. He was on a mission to Hanoi in 1945 where he met Ho Chi Minh. It's possible they were on the same mission.

Dad was a foreign correspondent in Italy from 1938 to 1941 when he was interned. He was exchanged via Portugal, then on to New York on the Swedish ship SS Drotningholm in mid 1942. He first joined the Glider Corps and when that folded, he joined the OSS and returned to Italy via Algeria and Corsica. He conducted a long-term OP mission on the island of Elba during the Battle of Montecassino. In 1944 he volunteered to go to the Far East, ostensibly to find his older brother, who had been a foreign correspondent in Shanghai and Hong Kong, but opted to join the British Indian Army in early 1941. He was commissioned and served with 2/12 Frontier Force Regiment and was captured at the fall of Malaya in 1942. He and a British officer made an escape attempt, were recaptured and murdered by the Japanese at Kanchanaburi POW camp in Thailand.
