Anyone having further information or details on Major Colin Ogden-smith killed fighting with a Jedburgh Free French unit
in Brittany 29th July 1944 please drop me a line I have found a memorial in his name in a field near my french house.
 
He was a member of the SSRF and took part in Operation Branford to the island of Burhou 3 miles north off Alderney
on September, 7 1942 and then Operation Basalt on Sark on
October 3rd, 1942 with his equally famous brother Sergeant Bruce Ogden Smith (of swimming/Normandy beeches reconnaissance.) Colin fighting with the Maquis was cornered in a field near Kerbozec he and 2 frenchmen Gerard de Carville and Maurice Miodon were killed.

I and some like minded souls are hoping to re-enact the Sark raid on August 8th

Do you have a picture of the memorial and their communal grave in Guiscriff Cemetery?

How do you mean , I didn't make it to Sark last year, the tides are so bad, you only get 6 hours from Jersey otherwise
its an overnight stay

my wife is a distant relative of the Ogden Smiths. The SOE records have just been released (2022). I’m am starting to do research into all 3 at the moment. Regards Phil
