My book, SAS Operation Pistol, comes out in August 2024. It covers my father's oral accounts, those of the French he met on the mission, and of course, researched details from operational reports. It has illustrations and maps. Also present is an American intelligence report from 1944 - it cost me £150 to get from an American researcher. It records my father's entry to their lines and SAS intelligence offered to the American 4th Armoured Division by other SAS from Operation Pistol.
The first draft of the book cover for my book, SAS Operation Pistol, has been sent to me - looks great but I have asked for some minor amendments.
I wanted to call the book Raindrops on Alsace - but was advised against it by the publisher as they wanted to take account of typical search words for SAS books. I have not included my father's time in the Coldstream guards at Dunkirk and the retreat back to it. His battalion actually left him on the Mole and left without him - because he had gone back to pick up some wounded Guardsmen.
