Porucznik (Lt.) Aleksander Ihrnatowicz was involved in bringing polish deserters from the Wehrmacht and Todt Organization (where they had been pressed into service) through the lines so as to join the Polish II Corps in Italy.
He held the record for parachute jumps on such missions - 4 into northern Italy and 1 into Jugoslavia.
