Michael Alan Pogue was a really good guy. He was a Junior when I met him. He gave this lowly freshman a ride to high school on mornings when he saw me walking. We talked about normal things. I admired him. I was hugely sadden when word came of his death. I would go on to enlist. Went to Fort Lewis for basic, Fort Gordon for AIT, and later to the area around Bien Hoa. I think of him every year on this the eve of his passing. The memory of the sacrifice and the lost benefit he would have made to the world and the world he would have built around him, disappoints. Lest we forget.
