Hello Alfred, I met your dad in late 1969 when we both prepared for selection together. We were due to do selection in the January of 1970. I also met your mum a few times. Your dad didn't make it through the first time around, but he did stay in Hereford and joined, I think, D Squadron Signal troop. I went on and finished selection and joined B Squadron. We'd see each other from time to time as we passed through Bradbury Lines. I remember him as always being a lot of fun and good to be around. Of course, we were both very young and quite naive, me more than your dad. When I heard of his death I was quite shocked, he'd just recently passed selection and I think it was his first deployment as a badged member of the Regiment, although I can't be sure about that. I never got to see your mum to offer my condolences as I was about to be discharged and on the move, so I was sad about that. Hope this little bit helps. Mike (Lofty) O'Regan
